On this week’s stream we went over the exciting updates to the Quinly software that will be coming this summer! The main focus of the new changes is a completely overhauled user interface which takes advantage of the feedback our customers have given us. With these new changes, you can expect the tools you use most to be even easier to access, as well as the ability to see all the important information about your printer’s status at a glance from the main page. These changes also gave us the freedom to add better functionality for file storage and organization. On the livestream, we went through the different tabs of the new UI and showed what a typical workflow would look like for a new user. This involved uploading gcode to the pi, then sending it to the printer, then moving to the main page where you can monitor the printer. We also talked about some of the features we have planned for the future that this UI will allow you to more easily access. This update will bring the Quinly user to the next level so we’re very excited that we can show you what is coming to your products.
The new file management page.
The first section we went over on the stream was the new file management system. I know, maybe not the most exciting sounding feature, but this can really save you a lot of hassle. How often have you had to search all over your computer for that last sliced file you made? Ther new UI gives the ability to organize files into assemblies and print them in order when you need it. That way, if you have a multi part model, you can be sure that all the parts will be printed in their required quantities whenever you want to get one running. This is also helpful for those of you who use your printer for personal and work purposes, or even share it between different people, as you can have the files separated.
The updated queue gives you more control.
The Queue now has its own tab and allows you greater control than before. Now you can change the order of queued items and the currently printing item is distinctly separated from the rest. These kinds of changes are great for if you get a last minute order that is high priority, or realize at the last minute that you didn’t queue enough files to finish the model you are working on.
Brand new overview page with webcam view.
Probably the most significant update has been to the brand new overview page. Now, there is a tab where all of the printer’s current statistics are displayed, along with controls to adjust them. The webcam stream is now clearly presented for those of you who have them, and the temperatures are right beside. For more advanced functionality, there are two other tabs in overview that allow you to directly send gcode commands to your printer or change the printer settings within the software.
You can expect to see these UI changes in the next month, and we can’t wait to make it public! If you have any other features you’d like for us to include in future versions, reach out to us over email or social media. Happy printing!
